Why We’ve Slowed Down, and Why We’re Still Here

If you’ve been around Super Tarts for a while, you may have noticed that things look a little different these days.

For many years, I shared a lot.

I shared new scents, behind-the-scenes moments, live videos, family life, funny stories, what was happening in our little corner of the world, and probably more of myself than I realized at the time.

Super Tarts has never just been a business to me. It has always been deeply intertwined with our family and our life.

And over the last couple of years, life has brought some significant changes for our family and for Super Tarts.

So I wanted to take a little time to explain why things have slowed down, why I’ve become quieter online, and most importantly, why we’re still here.

Life has been a lot.

The last few years have brought some significant struggles for our family.

There have been seasons where my mental health has been stretched further than I expected. There have been health struggles that required my attention and forced me to slow down and take better care of myself.

We’ve also walked through some very difficult teenage years.

If you’re a parent, you probably understand what I mean when I say that sometimes loving your children means walking through things you never imagined you would have to walk through.

Our family has had some really hard moments. There have been tears, uncertainty, worry, hard conversations, and a lot of praying.

I won’t share the details of our children’s stories here. Their lives are their own to tell.

But I will say this: parenting an almost-grown child through hard things is a completely different kind of heartbreak.

You can’t fix everything for them.

You can’t make every consequence disappear.

You can’t always protect them from the choices they make or the things that happen to them.

Sometimes all you can do is love them, pray for them, set boundaries when necessary, and keep reminding them that there is a way forward.

And we’ve been doing a lot of that.

I’ve also learned that I don’t have to share everything.

For a long time, sharing my life online felt very natural to me.

Some of you remember those days.

You’d see our family. You’d see the kids. You’d see what we were doing. I’d hop on a live video and chat with you while I was working. You weren’t just customers. You became part of our little community.

And I am incredibly thankful for that.

But somewhere along the way, my perspective on sharing our lives online changed.

Maybe it’s getting older.

Maybe it’s becoming more aware of the world we live in.

Maybe it’s realizing that my children deserve the opportunity to decide for themselves what parts of their lives belong on the internet.

Whatever the reason, I’ve become much more protective of my family.

That doesn’t mean I love sharing my life with you any less.

It just means that some things are ours now.

There are stories that belong to my children.

There are hard seasons that belong inside our home.

There are things I can talk about without telling someone else’s story.

And I’ve become much more comfortable with that boundary.

So what does that mean for Super Tarts?

It means we’ve slowed down.

Not because I stopped loving Super Tarts.

Not because I’m tired of creating.

And definitely not because I’m ready to walk away.

In fact, one of the sweetest things about these last few years is realizing how much I still love this little business.

I still love creating fragrances.

I still love pouring wax.

I still love opening a box of fragrance oils and wondering what I can make with them.

I still love seeing the scents we’ve created become part of someone’s home.

And I still get ridiculously excited when I come up with a blend that works.

That part hasn’t changed.

What has changed is how much space Super Tarts needs to take up in my life.

For a long time, I tried to keep up with everything.

More releases.

More preorders.

More content.

More lives.

More everything.

And eventually, I realized that more isn’t always better.

Sometimes more is just more.

And when your family needs you, when your health needs attention, when your heart needs some room to breathe, it’s okay to make less.

It’s okay to slow down.

It’s okay to say, This is what I can do right now.

We’re choosing a different pace.

Over the last couple of years, we’ve been slowly changing the way we run Super Tarts.

We’re still doing preorders. We’re still creating new fragrances and bringing back the scents you love.

But we’re trying to be more intentional about how often we open them and how much we’re taking on at one time.

One thing we’ve really enjoyed about this approach is that we’re able to pour some RTS inventory from our preorder batches, too. It gives us a way to keep some of those favorite scents available without constantly feeling like we’re chasing inventory or trying to keep up with an endless list of products.

We’re creating when we have the capacity to create instead of constantly feeling like we have to be producing something.

And we’re making room for life.

Real life.

The kind that doesn’t always fit neatly into a Facebook post.

The kind that sometimes looks like working late into the night and sometimes looks like stepping away from the computer because your family needs you.

The kind that includes celebrations and disappointments, good health and hard health seasons, kids growing up, marriages changing, unexpected circumstances, and learning who you are in the middle of all of it.

And we’re still here.

That is really what I want you to know.

We’re still here.

Super Tarts is still here.

I’m still here.

Still creating.

Still dreaming up scents.

Still pouring wax.

Still incredibly grateful that something I started all those years ago is still sitting in people’s homes.

And maybe I’m a little different than I was when I started.

I think that’s okay.

Life changes us.

Sometimes it makes us softer.

Sometimes it teaches us boundaries.

Sometimes it reminds us what actually matters.

And these last few years have reminded me, over and over again, that the people I love and the life we’re building together matter more than any business ever could.

Super Tarts gets to be part of that life.

It doesn’t have to consume it.

So if you’ve noticed that I’m not online quite as much, or that things aren’t moving at the pace they used to, thank you for giving me the grace to grow into this new season.

Thank you for continuing to order.

Thank you for continuing to share your favorite scents.

Thank you for sticking around through all the different seasons of this crazy little business.

And thank you for letting Super Tarts be part of your homes for all these years.

We’re not going anywhere.

We’re just taking a little more time to enjoy the life we’re building while we keep doing something we truly love.

And honestly?

That feels pretty good.

With gratitude,

Brandy
